Pug
The Pug was first registered with the American Kennel Club in 1885. It has all the fascination of a big dog - in miniature. Its square muzzle and round head, with much-wrinkled forehead, make it look both fierce and touching. Despite its very black muzzle, flattened nose and awkward body, it is a dog that has charmed many with its gentle, affectionate nature. It can, however, be aggressive with strangers. A dog much favored in high society in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, it appears in many famous paintings.
Very muscular, they should not weigh more than 8kg (17pounds). The coat is flat and shiny and is usually cream, a warm tan, silver or black.
