Beagle
The Beagle is an English dog whose origins go back into antiquity. It is mentioned in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. It has a characteristic carrying voice, a beautifully colored coat and an intelligence which makes it one of the most astute hunting breeds. Despite being one of the smallest hounds , it will follow large game as happily as small and is fearless and tireless. A favorite dog in the United States where it hunts hare, wild boar, foxes and deer and is also seen on the race track. When not used to hunt, it makes a wonderful pet; playful and very attached to its family. Beagle can be from 37-42cm <14-16inches> in height for the Standard Beagle and from 30-36cm <11-14inches> for the Small breed. There is no standard weight but the Large Beagle is around 17kg <38pounds>. The coat is short and flat and, ideally, black, white and red in color.
